Outdoors, it can be connected to a metal earthing rod. The mat is easy to clean with a sponge and soapy water.

What is earthing?

Earthing (or grounding) involves reconnecting electrically to the Earth to restore the body's natural balance. For Earthing to be effective, it is essential to test the quality of your earthing system, either with a suitable device (earthing tester, Tohm-E earthing meter or Catohm DT-300) or by calling in a professional with the appropriate equipment. 

If the electrical installations are too old or badly installed, the earth connection may be inadequate or non-existent.

It's also very important to keep electric fields in the room to a minimum (clock radios, bedside lamps, unshielded power sockets and extension leads), to prevent them from interfering with the earthing system. Don't hesitate to measure them or have them measured!
